A handcrafted bronze figure from Dahomey, Cotonou, Benin. It depicts a predator, somewhere between a lion and a hyena, with prey in its mouth. The dark brown patina appears calm and cohesive, while the surface shows fine, hammered textures and precise details. As an object, the figure functions like a small sculpture – compact, present, and tactile. A piece with palpable craftsmanship, straddling the line between art object and collector's item. Dating: presumably 1940s to 1970s or earlier.
