Vintage and Second Hand Luminarc Glasses from France

Products

Luminarc is the first brand of the Arc glass group from Arques in the Pas-de-Calais department of northern France. The glassworks in Arques was founded in 1825 and came under the sole control of Georges Durand in 1916. His son Jacques Durand joined the company in 1927 and drove its expansion after the Second World War. Luminarc was created in 1948 as a brand for everyday glassware and tableware in clear or decorated glass. Later came Arcoroc for bars, hotels and restaurants and Arcopal for opal glass tableware, among others.

At 2nd home you will find vintage and second hand Luminarc glasses and tableware, mostly from the 1970s and 1980s: wine glasses, champagne flutes and goblets, martini glasses, highball glasses and tumblers, plus carafes, glass bowls and tealight holders. Series and patterns you will find or have found here include Domino, Rosaline in soft pink, Oceane Saphir and octagonal shapes such as Octime, as well as cobalt blue bowls in the Art Deco Revival style and coloured glasses with a postmodern touch. Glassware by other makers is collected under glasses, jugs and carafes under jugs and carafes.

Since Luminarc was everyday series production, an incomplete set can sometimes be completed with single glasses from the same series. Compare height, diameter and colour with the glasses you already own; dimensions are stated in every listing. Besides glasses you will also find glass objects from the group, such as the Windsor Rubis vase; more vases are waiting under vases. Glass tealight holders sit well with our selection of candle holders.

What to check on second hand Luminarc glass: look at the stem and foot of goblets for scratches and small chips, because that is where much used glasses show most wear. Wash coloured and decorated glass by hand to keep colour and shine. Plates, cups and bowls by other makers for the same table are waiting under tableware.
