Christian Liaigre, born in La Rochelle in 1943 and died in 2020, is regarded as one of the great minimalists of French interior design. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts and the École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, designed for Nobilis first and opened his own shop in 1985. He became known for hotels such as the Montalembert in Paris and the Mercer in New York, and for homes of collectors, gallerists and artists. His furniture lives on wood, leather and bronze, on clean lines and calm colours. Nothing about it is loud, everything is built on material and proportion.
