LC2, LC3, LC4: which model is which?

Cassina calls the LC2 Fauteuil Grand Confort, petit modèle, and the LC3 grand modèle. The LC2 is the compact classic with a firm seat, good for offices, receptions and smaller rooms. The LC3 is wider and deeper, made for the living room. The LC4 chaise longue tilts continuously on its base and is the modernist recliner par excellence. How do you recognise an original?

Cassina acquired the rights to the LC designs in 1964 and has built the series since 1965. You recognise originals by the maker's marking, which differs by production year, and by the quality of chrome, seams and leather. How do I care for leather and tubular steel?

Treat the leather with leather care twice a year and avoid direct sun, then it stays supple. The chromed steel tube only needs a soft cloth; no abrasives, they scratch the shine. Small scratches in the chrome can be polished out.

Does an LC2 fit a modern interior?

Especially there. The strict cube shape works next to modern sofas as well as in a period flat, and black leather with chrome suits almost any colour scheme. An LC2 is often the piece that lends a room its gravity.
