Philippe Starck's Ktribe S2 for Flos is a quiet gesture in the room. The exterior metallized polycarbonate shade reveals the silhouette of the inner diffuser when illuminated. The light is softly diffused and remains pleasantly glare-free. Formally clear, technically precise, with the lightness for which Starck is known. Above the dining table, in the living room, or over an island, the lamp unfolds an unobtrusive presence. This vintage example shows signs of age; the cover over the bulb has a chip. A piece with a familiar, contemporary feel.
