The La Fonda Side Chair combines two key chapters in Eames history. The idea of an ergonomically shaped shell with an interchangeable base originated from the 1948 MoMA competition. From 1950 onwards, it became a durable everyday classic as the Fiberglass Chair. Here, the Seafoam shell meets the La Fonda base, which Charles and Ray Eames designed in 1961 for the New York restaurant La Fonda del Sol. The base has been repainted and is in very good condition.
