The DCM by Charles and Ray Eames is part of the early Plywood Group, which emerged in 1946 after years of experimentation with three-dimensionally molded plywood. The seat and back appear slender and organic, yet clearly defined. The slightly flexible backrest yields gently, making the chair surprisingly comfortable at the dining table. Typical of Eames is the interplay of precise form and functional construction, here with a metal frame. This Herman Miller example in black shows good vintage condition with visible signs of wear.
