Tecta Vintage Furniture and Design

German furniture maker based in Lauenförde, founded in 1956. A family business run by the Drescher family, specialised in re-editions of Bauhaus, De Stijl and constructivist designs.

Tecta holds the licence rights for a number of central classics: Marcel Breuer's tubular-steel furniture (B 1, B 5, B 9, B 32), Mart Stam's cantilever chair, designs by Walter Gropius and Stefan Wewerka, as well as pieces by El Lissitzky, Gerrit Rietveld and Jean Prouvé. The Tecta archive in Lauenförde documents the historical original designs and serves as a reference for production.

Characteristic is the close fidelity to the original drawings: Tecta re-editions reconstruct the dimensions, materials and construction details of the original designs. On the vintage market, early Tecta editions from the 1970s and 80s are especially sought after, as the runs were small and the material quality (tubular-steel chrome plating, leather covers) of the early phases is often hard to find today. Look for the Tecta logo on the base frame and stamped model numbers.
