George Nelson's 1955 Coconut Chair translates a simple idea into a clear form. Eight segments of a coconut become a generous seat shell. Precisely drawn, slightly playful, yet consistently modern. As design director at Herman Miller, Nelson shaped post-war American design and set the stage for names like Eames, Noguchi, and Girard. This vintage example from Vitra is executed in black leather.
