Product details
Large vintage tray from Gien's early Cachemire series, created around 1875 to 1885. The polylobed shape with raised handles appears impressive yet delicate. Blue transfer decoration, hand-painted in red, green, and yellow, frames the striking central paisley motif in an orientalist style. A piece with tangible historical depth and decorative serenity, it looks natural on a table, console, or sideboard. The fine crazing and light patina emphasize its historical character.

- Material: Faience, hand-painted in blue, red, green, and yellow
- Dimensions: 52 x 37.5 x 4 cm
- Condition: Very good age-appropriate condition with fine, natural crazing of the glaze, light brownish patina on one side, and usual signs of age. Small manufacturing flaw in the glaze near one handle, and two discreet firing cracks in the folds of two lobes.
- Origin: France, Gien, circa 1875 to 1885
- Special features: Early example of the Cachemire decor with a stamp from 1875 to 1876, likely used until the 1880s. Polylobed shape with wide, raised handles and hand-highlighted decor. One of the early models that was later reissued by the manufacturer.
