This Easy Chair by Yuta Hosokawa for READYMADE combines materials research with craftsmanship. The frame is made from plant-based epoxy resin, applied in sheets, cut to size, and then hand-blasted for four hours – resulting in a calm, semi-transparent surface with a frosty sheen. The seat and back are crafted using traditional rattan techniques by rare Japanese weavers; warm in tone, precise in its grid. Beneath the seat: a plaque with signature and date of manufacture. Note: One front leg is damaged and requires professional repair. The blend of technical clarity and natural texture creates a timeless and subtly present effect. Material selection and manufacturing follow a resource-conserving approach.
