Product details

After completing his architecture studies, Verner Panton worked for two years in Arne Jacobsen's architectural office before founding his own architecture and design studio in 1955. As early as the late 1950s, the Dane was exploring the idea of ​​a cantilever chair made from a single piece of material in connection with a furniture competition. Initial design sketches for the Panton Chair emerged in 1959 – it would be another eight years before Panton, together with Vitra, developed the chair with its unmistakable, expressive form into a production model. With it, design history was made: the Panton Chair was the first chair made entirely of plastic from a single piece. It clearly reflects Panton's preference for bold colors and organic forms. The chair, which has won design awards worldwide and is exhibited in numerous collections of important museums, offers excellent seating comfort thanks to its ergonomic shape and slightly flexible material. A total of five chairs in white are currently in stock. These have a slight yellow tint on the seats and some minor paint chips.
