About this piece
This piece is a collectible early model, consisting of a total of fourteen modules (twelve middle modules and two corner modules) in a very rare finish that has developed a unique patina over the years.
De Sede began in Klingnau, Switzerland, as a tannery workshop and has long been known as a manufacturer of high-quality leather furniture that is versatile and comfortable. The DS-600 is the company's best-known furniture design. Interestingly, De Sede itself never seems to have used this title, although the DS-600 has become known as the "non-stop sofa". The company points out on its website that the sofa was actually named after a mythical creature from alpine legend, the Tatzelwurm, said to be a long and slender lizard- or worm-like creature with the face of a cat.
The modules consist of an L-shaped hard foam core covered with a leather-covered cushion. The elements are connected with a plug-in hinge and a construction of fur and zipper.
The snake-like shape of the DS-600 and the possibility of creating a continuous seating arrangement make it a distinctive piece in any room. This sofa offers a versatile seating solution and represents a key piece of 1970s furniture design.
The sofa is in very good condition with expected signs of age and unique patina – as shown in the photos. There are no cracks or notable damage to the leather or the brown fabric. The sofa has been very well maintained – the leather has been regularly cared for, the fabric cleaned, even the zippers have been regularly lubricated.
The sofa is structurally excellent and fully usable, but the two corner modules sag/sink noticeably in the upper part (last photo) – this is also the most noticeable flaw on the sofa and a common fault in the early models.

2nd home was founded in 2023 by Cloudy Zakrocki and Michael Munder – with the mission to provide design lovers with easy access to sustainable, unique vintage furniture. Cloudy Zakrocki is a former editor-in-chief of world-renowned magazines and an expert in brand building; Michael Munder is an e-commerce expert who helped make furnishing retailers like Porta and Depot big. Most function like digital flea markets: unstructured, unsorted, and full of random finds. 2nd home deliberately takes a different approach – every single piece you find with us has undergone a multi-stage curation process. Only items that meet our standards for design, quality, and condition make it into the shop.

How the curation works
Vetted Sellers: Before a product can even be submitted, we vet the people behind it. Only verified sellers are allowed to offer products on 2nd home – commercial dealers, among other things, based on trade registration, assortment quality, and references.
Pre-filtering: Every submitted piece is carefully pre-filtered. In the flood of fast-moving mass-produced goods, we distinguish ourselves through consistent quality assurance – what does not fit our assortment is not listed.
Authenticity check: For design classics from brands like Cassina, Vitra, or Thonet, we authenticate brands and designers based on manufacturer and origin information. We state the origin and manufacturer directly in the product description.
Honest representation: Condition, dimensions, and signs of wear are transparently stated in every description. All photos show the actual piece – no catalog images. Vintage means lived history, and that's exactly how we describe it.
Quickly online: If a product passes curation and all information is correct, it is listed within 72 hours at the latest – and immediately available, without long waiting times.

Where Our Products Come From
Our assortment comes from three sources: Specialized vintage dealers who have focused on design classics and high-quality second-hand furniture for years – from Cassina to Vitra and Thonet to USM Haller. Commercial providers, whom we carefully vet before they are admitted to our platform. And private sellers who want to give their well-preserved furniture, lamps, rugs, and home accessories a 2nd home.
For design classics, we state the manufacturer and origin directly in the product description – so you always know where your piece comes from. Since the objects come from different sellers, they are shipped directly from their locations: smaller items as insured parcels, furniture by freight forwarding.
