ClassiCon Vintage Furniture and Design

German furniture maker based in Munich, founded in 1990. The range comprises re-editions of modernist classics and contemporary designer pieces.

The foundation of the range is the furniture of Eileen Gray, whose rights ClassiCon holds. These include the Bibendum armchair (1926), the Adjustable Table E 1027 (1927), the Day Bed and further pieces from the E 1027 house in Roquebrune. Alongside them are re-editions from the circle of the Wiener Werkstätten and designs by Joseph Hoffmann. In the contemporary field, ClassiCon works with Sebastian Herkner (Bell Side Table, Munich Lounge, Pli Table), Konstantin Grcic, Nendo and Front.

Characteristic is the premium manufacture in Germany using chrome-plated tubular steel, lacquered steel, glass and leather covers. On the vintage market, early ClassiCon editions from the 1990s and 2000s are especially sought after, as the runs of the first years were smaller. When you examine an Eileen Gray piece, look for the engraved ClassiCon lettering, the Eileen Gray licence number and original leather covers with patina.
