Product details
A rare vase from the period between 1920 and 1940, probably mid-1930s. Its shape is reminiscent of a small amphora: bulbous, on a slightly raised round base, with a slender neck and two double-handled handles that mediate between Art Nouveau and Art Deco. The beige stoneware exterior remains deliberately matte and unglazed, with stamped lines in deep Payne's Grey and chinoiserie-like floral motifs. Inside, a metallic brown-black glaze provides a contrast. Minor marks inside, otherwise very well preserved.
