Product details
A bandaji, a type of chest used in Korea since the Joseon Dynasty for clothing and valuables. Elm wood with a calm grain, complemented by finely chased brass fittings with pumpkin and flower motifs – symbols of protection and prosperity. The lid opens upwards; inside is storage space, outside a clear, graphic order of the fittings. The piece brings warmth and cultural depth to the room, appearing equally at home in a Japanese-inspired setting as it does alongside contemporary forms. Traces of use tell of time and history; the construction remains solid. A quiet, sculptural presence.
