Victorian papier-mâché pencil box, dated circa 1860. Deep black lacquer, finely hand-painted with delicate floral tendrils, a bird, and gold-colored trim around the edge. The lid folds easily, the interior is simply black. On a desk, it organizes pens and small stationery items; in a display case, it showcases 19th-century lacquerware. The surface appears very clean in the photos, the paintwork clear and unworn. Maker unknown, typical of Early Victorian. A quiet, decorative object with a story. Suitable for both historical and modern workspaces. Also a gift for lovers of Victorian lacquerware.
