An English goblet in solid sterling silver, dating from the early 20th century. The classic chalice shape is complemented by delicately curved double handles in the Regency style. The rim is precisely framed by a continuous beaded or egg-and-dart decoration. Gilded on the inside, the goblet displays the craftsmanship of traditional silversmiths. Highly polished on the outside, the piece rests on a faceted, octagonal foot – serene, balanced, and stately. Clear Birmingham hallmarks with the sterling lion and maker's mark attest to its origin and quality. Stylistically, it lies between Classicism and the Regency Revival.
