A paperweight like a silent showpiece. This large 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air is rendered as a crystal sculpture from the 1980s to 1990s, produced by Magic Crystal ForMen Hofbauer in Germany. Clear and smooth on the outside, satinized on the inside: the engine, seats, and trunk are outlined in relief, with air in between. The light breaks softly, the contours appear precise and calm. On the desk, the piece functions as a weight; on the shelf, as a small tribute to American automotive design.
