An Isamu Kenmochi set from the 1960s that perfectly encapsulates Japanese post-war modernism. Two stackable ashtrays with clear cylinders: chrome-plated on the outside, green and yellow glass on the inside. A matching table lighter sits atop them. Uncomplicated geometry, precise proportions, soft curves. The pieces stack to form a calm, vertical silhouette – functional yet sculptural. On a sideboard or coffee table, the set acts as a silent object, structuring everyday life and adding a touch of color. An example of Kenmochi's ability to elevate the utilitarian.
