This solid glass bowl was made in the early 1970s at the Chřibská glassworks based on a design by Josef Hospodka, one of the defining designers of Czechoslovak studio glass. The intense cranberry red is deeply embedded within the clear glass mass, creating a luminous gradient typical of the Sommerso technique. With its softly modeled form and considerable weight, the bowl appears sculptural and distinctive. As a bowl, it fits just as well into a Mid-Century interior as into a contemporary setting.
