Product details
This bronze sculpture from Dahomey in Benin depicts a vivid scene: a hunter, axe raised, encounters an upright animal gripping him on the torso with a front paw. Cast using the lost-wax method, finely crafted and deliberately accentuated with gold, brown, and a small pinkish hue on the tongue. On the dark wooden base, the movement appears clearly captured yet raw. An object between narrative and formal study, with visible patina of age and handcraft.
