The Argo floor lamp by Kurt Ziehmer was designed in 1984 for Vereinigte Werkstätten München. Its clear, almost architectural silhouette is grounded by the heavy granite base. Above it sits a chrome-plated steel tube that supports the long, trapezoidal aluminum arm via a ball joint. This allows the lamp to be precisely aligned, from reading light to indirect illumination. The shade is also adjustable. A factually constructed piece of postmodernism, functionally conceived and very present in the room.
