Vistosi Vintage Furniture and Design

Italian Murano glass manufactory and lighting producer, based in Murano (Venice). Family business with roots going back to the 16th century (the family's first documented glassmaking activity in 1597), reorganized as a pure lighting manufacturer from 1945 under Guglielmo Vistosi.

Vistosi combines centuries-old Murano glassmaking tradition with contemporary lighting design. Classics were created with Angelo Mangiarotti (Giogali 1968, pendant lamp with chain-hook modules made of hand-blown glass), Gae Aulenti, Vico Magistretti, Renato Toso, and Luciano Vistosi himself. Later designers include Hangar Design Group, Romani Saccani Architetti Associati, and Diego Chilò. Characteristic are hand-blown glass bodies in the Murano tradition, often combined with delicate metal suspensions, in colors ranging from clear to amber, to rich turquoise, smoke, and Bordeaux tones.

In the vintage market, Mangiarotti's Giogali pendant lamps from the late 60s and 70s are particularly sought after (often as modular compositions), as are early Toso and Vistosi wall lamps. When inspecting a piece, look for the engraved Vistosi logo on the glass body or metal base, Murano glassmaker stamps, and dating characteristics. For Giogali, the completeness of all glass hook elements is crucial; individual missing modules significantly reduce the value.
