How do I recognise good old porcelain?

By the backstamp, by an even ring when tapped gently and by clean glaze without hairline cracks. Makers like Rosenthal or Lilien are stamped; we photograph the mark for you.

Can I still add to vintage ranges?

Often yes: big ranges of the fifties to eighties were produced for decades, and single plates or cups surface continuously. Note the maker and range name and check back regularly.

Is old porcelain dishwasher-safe?

Plain hard porcelain mostly yes; pieces with gold rims or hand painting belong in hand wash. When in doubt wash by hand, it costs little and preserves the decoration.

What distinguishes handmade from industrial porcelain?

Handmade pieces like those by Maomi show small differences in shape and glaze, every piece is unique. Industrial ranges are exactly alike but easier to add to. You will find both here.

Are these porcelain pieces vintage or used?

Both. Vintage means pieces of roughly 20 years or older with a design language of their own, used simply means previously owned. Age, condition and origin are listed with every item.

Can I sell my own porcelain pieces through you?

Yes. You can submit pieces through our Sell page. We check condition and demand and come back to you with an assessment.

How are porcelain pieces delivered?

By parcel service, well padded and insured. You see the shipping cost on the product page before ordering.

Can I view the porcelain pieces before buying?

That depends on the seller. Our pieces are located with dealers and private sellers in different places. Just ask us and we will find out whether a viewing is possible.
