Minotti Vintage Furniture and Design

Minotti was founded in 1948 by Alberto Minotti in Meda (Brianza) and is today one of the defining Italian luxury upholstered furniture manufactories. The Minotti family still runs the company in its second and third generation and produces exclusively at the Brianza site.

Characteristic are Minotti's generous, low upholstered sofas and armchairs with precise workmanship in high-quality leather and wool fabric. Since 1998, Rodolfo Dordoni has been the defining figure of the house as artistic director; more recently GamFratesi, Marcio Kogan, Nendo, Inoda+Sveje and Christophe Delcourt have also designed for Minotti. Central classics are the Hamilton sofa (Dordoni 2003) and the modular Hamilton Islands sofa system, the Andersen sofa family, the Spencer sofa series and the Aston armchair. Materials include solid steel and cast aluminium for bases, mixed down and polyurethane upholstery and premium covers.

On the vintage market, Minotti pieces from the late 1990s and 2000s are especially sought after, above all early Hamilton sofa editions and Dordoni classics. When you examine a piece, look for the sewn-in Minotti label on the underlining (with model number and production date), intact original leather covers or high-quality reupholstery in matching materials and an intact base without corrosion or weaknesses.
