Kusch+Co was founded in 1939 in Hallenberg (Sauerland) by Carl Hugo Kusch as an upholstery workshop and, after 1945, grew into a defining German seating manufacturer for the contract and public sector (offices, lobbies, railway stations, airports, reception areas). Today Kusch+Co is part of the Kinnarps group (since 2018) and continues to produce at its Hallenberg site.

Kusch+Co is known for high-quality seating editions for demanding public and office environments: lounge chairs, bench seating series, beam seating for railway stations and airports, bistro and conference chairs. Well-known classics include beam seating for public spaces (bench series for railway stations and airports), conference and bistro chairs and lounge seating. Notable designer collaborations include Justus Kolberg, Wulf Schneider, Norbert Geelen, Tobias Petri and Frank Rettenbacher. Materials include precisely made tubular-steel frames with high-quality upholstered seats, multiplex plywood shells, padded leather covers or contract fabrics.

On the vintage market, original Kusch+Co editions from the mid-century and Pop eras are especially sought after (above all the public beam seating from airports and railway stations, which has become collectable as “modernist public seating”). When you examine a piece, look for the stamped or sewn-in Kusch+Co label on the seat or base frame (often with model name and date code), the characteristic precise tubular-steel work and intact original upholstery or high-quality period-correct reupholstery.
