Dyrlund was founded in 1960 in Skovlunde (Denmark) by Hans Dyrlund Petersen and is one of the defining Danish furniture makers of the mid-century and Pop eras. The company is known for its distinctive round dining tables, swivel-base stools and pared-back sculptural furniture rooted in a tradition of precise solid-wood joinery.

The best-known Dyrlund classics are the round dining tables with their distinctive extendable star-shaped central mechanism (the “Flip-Flap table”), produced in several woods (teak, rosewood, mahogany, smoked oak) and counted for decades among the internationally sought-after Danish dining-table classics. Alongside these are the upholstered lounge benches and armchairs by Kai Lyngfeldt Larsen, the dining chairs in curved plywood construction and the sideboards in solid-wood joinery. Dyrlund produced exclusively in its own workshop in Skovlunde and exported internationally (above all to Germany, the Netherlands and the USA). Materials include solid Danish and tropical woods (teak, rosewood, oak), precisely executed solid-wood joinery and, in seating, high-quality wool covers and leather upholstery.

On the vintage market, original Dyrlund editions from the 1960s and 70s are especially sought after, above all the round Flip-Flap tables in rosewood or teak with their original joinery patina. When you examine a piece, look for the branded Dyrlund mark on the underside of the table base or the case (with model name and date), the characteristic precise solid-wood joinery and an intact wood patina free of aggressive staining or refinishing.
