COR Vintage Furniture and Design

Cor was founded in 1954 in Rheda-Wiedenbrück (East Westphalia) by Helmut Lübke and ranks among the defining German luxury upholstered furniture manufactories of the post-war era. Cor is still family-owned and run by the Lübke family in its second and third generation; production takes place exclusively at the Rheda-Wiedenbrück site.

The best-known Cor classic is the Conseta sofa (1964) by Friedrich-Wilhelm Möller: a modular upholstered sofa system with a reduced geometric formal language that has been in continuous production for over sixty years, making it one of the longest-lived sofa designs in German home culture. Other central Cor classics are the Trio sofa, the Sinus sofa, the Jalis sofa and the Cordia modular system, with designs by Peter Maly, Jörg Boner, Studio Vertijet and Metrica. Materials include solid steel and cast aluminium for bases, mixed down and polyurethane upholstery and high-quality wool, linen and leather covers.

On the vintage market, early Conseta editions from the 1960s and 70s are especially sought after, above all in discontinued original cover colours and with the original, unreplaced upholstery. When you examine a piece, look for the sewn-in Cor label on the underlining (with model designation and production date), intact original covers or high-quality reupholstery in matching materials and an intact steel base without corrosion or weaknesses.
