Arper Vintage Furniture and Design

Arper was founded in 1989 in Monastier di Treviso by the Feltrin family and today ranks among the internationally present Italian furniture brands for contemporary seating, tables and upholstered furniture for residential, office and hospitality applications. Arper combines Italian design language with precise industrial production.

Arper's defining collaboration is with the design agency Lievore Altherr Molina (Barcelona), which from 2001 designed the Catifa chair series: a modular seat shell programme in plywood, plastic or upholstery with interchangeable bases as four-leg, swivel, sled or stacking chair. Catifa 46, 53, 60 and 70 are today standard seating in internationally furnished spaces and design hotels. Further classics are the Aston armchair family (Lievore Altherr Molina), Babar benches and the Loop chair. Materials are moulded laminated plywood, injection-moulded polypropylene, powder-coated steel and high-quality covers.

On the vintage market, Catifa originals from the early 2000s and Lievore Altherr Molina editions are especially sought after, above all in rarer colour variants. When you examine a piece, look for the embossed Arper logo on the underside of the seat, intact lacquer or plastic surfaces without UV yellowing and the original workshop label with model designation and production date.
