The 712/2 two-seater sofa by Hans Peter Piehl for Wilkhahn embodies the clarity of the 1970s. Designed in 1972 and awarded the Gute Industrieform (Good Industrial Design) prize in 1974, it combines understated form with sophisticated construction. The gently curved backrest is upholstered in a fine cappuccino-colored fabric, while the black metal base rests on a precise substructure. The result is a piece that appears light and functional. It calmly structures spaces and reflects the technical approach of its time – without nostalgia, but with substance. Part of a modular series, the frame utilizes die-cast zinc, typical of the era.
