The story of USM Haller begins in Switzerland – and it begins with a building. When the family-owned company USM built a new headquarters in the 1960s, it created more than just an office building. The architect commissioned, Fritz Haller, not only designed a modular architectural system but, together with company CEO Paul Schärer, also a revolutionary furniture system: USM Haller.

The goal was to create furniture that was as flexible as the building itself. The result: a modular system of steel tubes, connecting spheres, and metal panels that could be combined to create a wide variety of furniture pieces—from sideboards to shelving units. USM Haller went into series production in 1969. What began as a pragmatic office solution became a symbol of functional design with precision, clarity, and structure.

Today, USM Haller is considered one of the great design classics of the 20th century – timeless, durable, and adaptable like no other system.
