The square, segmented base made of gilded metal shows clear signs of age and use, such as wear to the gilding on the putto's upper body with visible metal underneath, as well as occasional oxidation spots. The lamp works, but when switched on it shows a slight crackling sound and fluctuations in brightness, likely due to a loose connection in the socket or bulb; an inspection of the electrics is recommended.
