Italy 1950s This dark brown Italian coffee table attributed to Cesare Lacca is made of solid mahogany wood, tempered glass and polished brass details. It has a carved sculptural shapely organic form and it features a newspaper shelf. The legs have an aerodynamic shape with small brass details at the end. The sleek lines of this piece along with its curved edges, contrasting woods, glass and brass details make it a very covetable item. Cesare Lacca was an Italian architect-designer best known for his bar carts and brass work in post-war Italian design. His elegant brasswork is highly sought after by collectors and most of his work dates from the 1950s. His most iconic tea cart was produced by Cassina but he also designed for Arredoluce. Unfortunately, not much is known about Lacca beyond his concentrated work from the 1950s. Place of Origin: Italy Period: 1950 – 1959 Date of Manufacture: ca. 1950
